A 40-year-old woman has alleged that she was abducted from her east Delhi residence, drugged and raped by four of her colleagues on Wednesday, the police said. Her medical examination has confirmed sexual assault.
According to police, the woman, a resident of Joshi Colony near Madhu Vihar, is employed as a collection agent at a private firm in Noida. Her ordeal allegedly unfolded after the accused paid her a visit Wednesday afternoon.
"The accused, identified as Ravindra, Lokendra, Jai Singh and Rakesh, went to her house; it was like any of their regular visits," said an officer. "According to her, the men lured her to their vehicle by saying that they wanted her help in shopping," he added.
Once aboard, the woman told the police, the men offered her a cold drink laced with sedatives. As soon as she lost consciousness, the men sexually assaulted her one by one. The woman, in her drugged stupor, couldn't fight back and found herself struggling to gather her bearings on a roadside in Dilshad Garden sometime later.
"The victim claims she was raped aboard the moving vehicle by two men and then driven to a secluded spot where the other two sexually assaulted her," the officer said. "A passerby, sensing her distress, alerted the local police control room. A team was rushed to the spot and brought her to the Madhu Vihar police station," he added.
Immediately after she related her ordeal, she was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where a medical examination confirmed sexual assault.
While the police officers connected with the investigation claimed a case of gang rape was registered immediately, sources claimed the case could only be registered as late as Thursday evening due to ‘procedural delays'.
"There was no delay in registering the case. The accused have been identified and will be nabbed soon," the officer added.
