Thanks to rampant urbanisation and housing loans offered by banks and affordable interest rates in the past few years, majority of Delhiites live in their own houses.

A report on level and pattern of household consumer expenditure — prepared by Delhi government's directorate of economics
and statistics — reveals 64.36% of 36.64 lakh Delhi families have their own houses, while 30.79% live in rented accommodation. Those who live in rented houses spend almost 6.72% of their monthly expenditure on house rent.
