Proving that their physical disabilities are no hurdle for them, students with disabilities have come out with flying colours in the CBSE class 12 results declared on Monday.

The topper in the Delhi region among students with disabilities is from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, with a score of 95.4%. She did not want to be named. Another such student is Diwakar Sharma from DPS R K Puram, having scored 91.2% in humanities. Visually-impaired Diwakar became a household name in 2006 when he participated in Zee TV’s ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs’.

Diwakar gives the credit of this success to his parents and school. “My parents guided and encouraged me. My mother downloaded material from the net and read it for me,” says Diwakar. Asked how he managed his time between performances and studies, he said he took time out during events and while travelling.

Kapil Aggarwal from Bloom Public School, Vasant Kunj, might not be able to climb stairs due to muscular dystrophy but having scored 88.2% in commerce stream, he has proved that he was ready to climb the ladder of success.

His parents were reluctant to send him to school but the school principal Ashutosh Batta convinced them and made all the necessary arrangements for Aggarwal to continue. When his driver quit his job, his sister drove him to school every day. Aggarwal aspires to become a CA.
