After remaining suspended for six months, the Delhi’s swanky high-speed airport metro service will start in a few days. But trains, which earlier ran at 105 kmph, will now pick up only 50 kmph.

RK Kardam, Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), who inspected the 22.7-km-corridor on Tuesday and Wednesday, officially gave a safety clearance on Friday. The concessionaire company, Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd (DAMEPL), has been allowed to run trains at a restricted speed of 50 KMPH, said sources. The CMRS has said the speed will be increased periodically following inspection of the line by the Delhi Metro, sources said.

“The CMRS gave the long-awaited nod to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and DAMEPL for the resumption of services on the line today,” said a DMRC official. Though DAMEPL officials remained tight-lipped on when they service would be re-launched, sources said it was likely to start by Wednesday.

"The date resumption of service will be decided in a meeting on Saturday," said an official.
