The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has apprehended an airport staff member for stealing $2,500 from a passenger who was travelling to China. The passenger, who left on December 28, informed the intelligence wing of CISF after his return on Wednesday.

"The passenger Mohammed Istakhara, a businessman from Muzaffarnagar, had arrived by China Southern airline from Guangzhou (China) and informed us. In his complaint, he stated that on December 28 he travelled to Guangzhou. Before boarding his aircraft at 1pm, he had gone to the food court area of Terminal-3 where someone stole his envelope containing $2,500,” a senior CISF official said.

Later, on arrival at Guangzhou, he realised that his envelope was missing. After the complaint, CISF surveillance team scanned the CCTV footage thoroughly and found that a cleaning staff of a private company was stealing the envelope.

“The staff member, later identified as Shankar Paswan, was called for questioning. Initially he denied but after a thorough interrogation he confessed and the local police was informed," the official added.

The police took him to his house where the envelope containing $2,500 was recovered.
