The meeting comes in the wake of lapse of a purported deadline of January 28, as announced by home minister Sushilkumar Shinde, for a decision on separation of Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. Six Congress MPs from the region have announced their resignations to Parliament membership. Though the exact details of the meeting that lasted for half an hour are not known, it is understood that Reddy apprised the Congress chief of the current situation in the state.
