Annual celebrations at Sanskriti School

Sanskriti School, Chankyapuri  held its annual cultural celebrations, 'Jashn'. Students of class VIII presented ode to Shakespeare on Day 1 followed by Panchatantra by students of class VI and Rigmarole by students of Class VII. Senior students enacted Tagore's Gitanjali as part of the grand finale. The chief guests on the occasion were Hemi Surendra Singh, founder chairperson of the Civil Service's Society (CSS); Tariq A. Karim, High Commissioner, Bangladesh; Miloslav Stasek, ambassador, Czeck Republic; Dr  Suresh Goel, Director General ICCR, Roopa Sinha, ex- secretary(CSS), Reena Aggarwal, ex -treasurer(CSS). Principal Abha Sahgal said the main objective of the function is to take learning beyond the classrooms.

Pathways School, Noida, celebrated its founders day which began with the ceremonial lamp lighting by chief guest Shovana Narayan, the guest of honour ambassador Herbert Traxl and chairman of Pathways group Pramod Jain. Students delighted the audience with performances which drew from the richness of cultures around the world. The school's orchestra showcased its prowess with music from multiple traditions. The school wore a festive air dotted with Maori totems, huge sun models, vibrant dance figures and colourful lanterns.

K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikas Puri, recently hosted zonal level competitions for orchestra vocal, instrumental and patriotic song. Various schools of the zone participated in vocal music (solo) and instrumental music (solo). It was a common competition for boys and girls. Namrata Bhatt of K.R.Mangalam, Vikaspuri bagged the third prize in the zonal vocal music. In the instrumental music, Angad Singh Vohra of K.R.Mangalam, Vikaspuri, won the first prize on the Tabla. Girls of K.R.Mangalam, Vikaspuri won the second position. Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri won the first prize in the zonal level orchestra competitions.

Sri Venkateshwar International School, Sector- 18, Dwarka ,  celebrated its annual day 'VIVAAN' by bringing alive the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Shri Dilip K. Bandhopadhyay, vice-chancellor GGSIP university was the chief guest. The guests of honour - Shri Raj Pal, founder chairman, Gp Capt Ishwar Singh, advisor Venkateshwar Group of Schools & the school chairman Sailander Solanki lit the lamp of knowledge. Principal Nita Arora presented the annual report. Principal also supported the 'YOU READ; THEY LEARN' initiative of Hindustan Times. Parents were busy buying their child's art to encourage 'PAINT A FUTURE'. Paintings were exhibited, out of which, the three best paintings were short listed for the mega exhibition.

Delhi: HIV patient gets 7 years' jail for robbery

A Delhi court has sentenced an HIV-positive man and his wife to seven years in jail for robbery and house trespassing. The court said there were no grounds for leniency on account of health since such crimes were on the rise and needed to be curbed.
