A 30-year-old man was arrested for his alleged role in supplying illegal weapons to criminal gangs in the national capital region (NCR), the crime branch said on Tuesday.
Identified as Raju Dabar, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, the accused was arrested with four revolvers of .32 bore, six pistols of 7.65 bore and 10 live cartridges. "The weapons seemed to have been manufactured with high proficiency and appeared to be absolutely genuine," said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police (crime).
"In February, we had made a major breakthrough and seized a huge consignment of illegal weapons, including a 9mm carbine machine gun and nine other sophisticated weapons of different bore. Three people had been arrested," said additional CP Yadav. The police claimed that an input had recently been received that a gang indulging in the sale and supply of these illegal arms was getting weapons manufactured in Dhar from one Sarvan.
A study regarding the modus operandi of this gang was carried out and local sources were deployed in the NCR and Madhya Pradesh to collect leads.
