A final-year student of Krishna Institute of Engineering and Technology (KIET) shot himself dead late on Friday night. The victim left a suicide note, saying that he was overburdened by his studies, police officials said on Saturday.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said the incident occurred at a temple located inside the college premises of KIET, located at NH-24 area at Muradnagar on Friday night.
Hitesh Jha, 22, was a student of B Tech final year (electronics and communication). He allegedly shot himself dead with a country- made pistol. “Police have also recovered a live cartridge on his body,” the SSP added.
The victim left a suicide-note addressed to his father Rajvir Sharma, saying that he is not capable of handling the pressure any more. “I am not able to concentrate on my studies. No one is responsible and no one is insisting me to do so. Sorry, pitaji! I could not fulfill your dreams,” read the letter.
KIET’s chief administrative officer Manoj Goel said the college was closed for semester-break and some of the students had requested to stay back to prepare for GATE examination.
“We got the information at 11.40pm and reached the spot and informed police and his parents,” Goel said. Jha hailed from Aligarh.
