The BJP is looking at taking two consecutive attempts at defeating the government over FDI in retail: the first when the executive decision is discussed by Parliament under voting rules and, second, when the amendments to the Foreign Exchange Management Regulations are placed before the two Houses for approval in order to implement the reform.
The debate and vote under Rules 184 and 167, 168 in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively, will take place one after the other beginning next Tuesday.
