The two-year-old baby girl, who was brought to AIIMS' Trauma Centre in a severely injured condition on January 18, was taken off the ventilator on Friday, after she showed signs of improvement. The baby is admitted to the neurosurgery ICU at the trauma centre.

"She was put off
ventilator at 6am. After checking her vital parameters, we can say that her infection is responding positively to the antibiotics. However, she continues to remain critical and stable," said a doctor at the hospital.

The two-year-old might have to undergo a surgery to create a permanent draining mechanism for her infected brain.

The baby was admitted to the hospital with broken arms, bite marks all over her body, cheeks being branded with hot iron apart from having severe head injuries.
