The police said the first incident took place around 8am in east Delhi's New Ashok Nagar. The victim has been identified as Vinod Kumar Das, 50, who worked as a senior manager at the Janakpuri branch of Corporation Bank.

"Eyewitnesses said Das was going to his Trilokpuri residence after a morning walk when his brother-in-law, Bharat Bhushan who lives in Noida, met him," said a police officer.

"Bhushan had a quarrel with Das over some issue near the Dharamshila Hospital. He, then, took out a knife and stabbed Das several times in the stomach, before fleeing. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died during treatment," he added.

The police suspect that Das's role as a mediator in settling family disputes might be a reason behind the attack. They added that Bhushan, who has some criminal cases registered against him, figured in many disputes. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2012/12/06_12_12-metro6.jpg

“The family always approached Das to settle the rows — many of which involved Bhushan. This angered the latter and he wanted to eliminate Das,” the officer said.

The police have registered a case of murder against Bhushan, who not traceable.

In another incident, a 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by an autorickshaw driver over fare in central Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area late on Tuesday night.

The victim identified as Izhar from UP stayed at a rented flat in west Delhi's Madipur village, the police said.

They added that the autorickshaw driver stabbed Izhar several times in the stomach after he refused to pay R55 — the fare demanded by the accused. “According to witnesses, an argument over the fare demanded by the driver led to the scuffle,” said an officer.

Izhar was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead. A case of murder has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station against the autorickshaw driver, who is at large.
