A live sub-adult blackbuck (Antilope Cervicapra) was rescued from Greater Kailash (GK) near W-Block Park on Monday. The animal had been brought from Meerut to be sold in the Capital.
According to the police, four men — Bhupender, Amarnath, Pintoo Kumar and Pawan — were going to
sell it for
Rs. 1 lakh.
“The accused disclosed that they had stolen the deer from Sanjay Van Partapur which is a government reserve forest,” said a police official.
According to the Wildlife Trust of India, the blackbuck is a threatened antelope that is found only in scattered numbers in India.
