Book on Afzal's petition released

A book titled 'The Afzal Petition: A Quest for Justice' was released on Thursday as part of an ongoing campaign by human rights activists in support of clemency petition of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to the President.


The book makes available to the public domain the petition sent by Afzal to the President containing legal and political arguments advanced by him to prove that he was never given an opportunity to defend himself and alleging his trial was a farce.

The book, released by socialist leader Surendra Mohan, contains evidences provided by prosecution witnesses.

Delhi: HIV patient gets 7 years' jail for robbery

A Delhi court has sentenced an HIV-positive man and his wife to seven years in jail for robbery and house trespassing. The court said there were no grounds for leniency on account of health since such crimes were on the rise and needed to be curbed.
