Bundle up as it may rain today; cold days ahead

Delhiites experiences another pleasant day on Friday as the maximum temperature was 24.3 degree Celsius — three degrees above normal.

The minimum temperature, however, was a degree below normal at 6.1 degrees.

The weatherman has predicted Saturday to be another warm day with some possibility of rain.

According to the officials at the Met department, one or two spells of rains and thundershowers are likely, and the mercury may remain between 9 and 20 degree Celsius.

“The effect of the Western Disturbance, which brought snowfall to the hilly regions and warmer weather to Delhi, will be felt till Saturday. After that low temperatures are set to return and strong cold winds will also make a comeback,” said BP Yadav, director, weather forecast, India Meteorological Department. 

The city witnessed shallow fog on Friday morning which lifted by 9am. The sky was also partly cloudy but contrary to Met department’s prediction, there was no rain.

“The day was very pleasant. It was a great start to the weekend,” said Ramesh Kansal, a resident of Patel Nagar. “I came for an outing with my family after almost a month today because of the great weather.”

Even India Gate teemed with visitors owing to the great weather. “The weather is a boon after last week’s cold days. Stepping out of the house is not an ordeal anymore,” said Meenakshi Kaul.
