After reaching almost dead-end in the probe into allegation levelled by former army chief General VK Singh that he was offered bribe by Lt Gen (retd) Tejinder Singh on behalf of Vectra group owner Ravinder Rishi, the CBI has found some fresh evidence to contemplate registering an FIR in the case.

“The fresh evidence is being reviewed. After legal vetting, we will proceed further,” said a CBI official.

Gen Singh had alleged that he was offered bribe of Rs. 14 crore to clear a tranche of sub-standard Tatra trucks for the army.

Lt Gen Tejinder Singh has all along maintained that he met Gen Singh in 2010 for a personal reason. He has denied making any bribe offer to Gen Singh. “I have never met Rishi and I have nothing to do with his companies,” Lt Gen Singh told HT.

The CBI could not proceed the case as it was reduced to one person’s allegation against another. Another hurdle was lack of any visible link between  Tejinder and Rishi. But with new evidence, CBI hopes to overcome these hurdles.
