Under fire over the solar panel scam, Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy appears to have got a breather with the Congress leadership indicating that there will be no change of guard in the state.

On Friday, Chandy met Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to explain the entire case. He also met Union ministers AK Antony and Vayalar Ravi and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel.

Later in the evening, Chandy was felicitated for receiving the prestigious United Nations Public Service Award last month for his mass contact programme initiative, widely hailed as a unique democratic experiment during which he received 5.5 lakh petitions, of these three lakh were resolved and R22.68 crore of financial assistance distributed.

Hinting that there will be a cabinet reshuffle, Chandy said he would be the “happiest man” if state Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala was inducted in the government.

The CM also sought to reach out to Hindu caste organisations which are up in arms against his government, which they claim is dominated by Christians and Muslims. “Congress is a party of all sections. We have no reservation to anybody,” he said.
