A western commode, permission to get home-cooked food and stay with son in the cell allotted him were among a few requests made by Om Prakash Chautala to the Tihar jail authorities.
“The former Haryana CM had asked for a western commode since he said he cannot manage with a squat toilet. We accepted his request on health grounds,” said a jail source.
Chautala and Ajay are lodged together in a cell that has an indoor makeshift toilet and a TV set in ward number 15 — known as the Vipassana ward — of sub-jail four. Sub-jail four had earlier housed the former CWG organising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and activist Anna Hazare.
“While the Chautalas and a few others were allowed home food today, we informed them that rules allow an inmate to avail of such a facility only twice a week,” said the source.
