The incident was reported to the east Delhi’s Ghazipur police on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused, identified as Durgesh Pandey, who lives with his family in a rented accommodation in Khoda Colony near Mayur Vihar Phase-III. Pandey, who introduced himself a bachelor with a job in the Indian Air Force, is untraceable and several police teams are looking for him, police said.

The victim, who lives in Ghazipur with her family, in her complaint told the police that Pandey established physical relationship with her after having an informal marriage at his friend’s house in east Delhi. She alleged that Pandey took her to Goa on ‘honeymoon’ and they stayed together in a hotel as a married couple.

“She claimed that she was raped by Pandey several times in the hotel room in Goa. Pandey continued exploiting her sexually even after they returned to Delhi from Goa. Pandey never told her that he was already married. He, in fact, kept her in the dark by promising her that they will soon get formally married,” said a police officer, quoting the victim’s complaint.

For the past few days, the victim was insisting that Pandey introduce her to his family. When she started pressuring him for a formal marriage, Pandey began avoiding her and stopped taking her calls, she told the police.

“On Wednesday, the victim met Pandey’s sister at her home. His sister told her that Pandey was already married. It was then that the girl decided to approach the police,” the officer said. He also said that the medical examination of the victim confirmed rape and and a case was accordingly registered.

Pandey had told the victim that he owns several flats in Delhi. But he lives in a rented house and is unemployed. The victim had met Pandey in 2012 through a common friend.
