The woman and her husband also alleged that after the constable hit them with his motorcycle he got into an argument with the couple and even assaulted them.

The couple also said the constable was drunk at the time of the incident.

The police however have denied assault and have booked Constable Rajesh Kumar for rash and negligent driving.

According to police, the victim Alka Sharma was accompanying her husband Rajesh Sharma in the Geeta Colony area in East Delhi on Sunday night.

The victim said the accused constable Kumar was drunk when he hit her and her husband with his motorcycle. “When my husband asked him to drive slowly,  the constable got off from his motorcycle and picked up an argument with him. When I tried to intervene he assaulted us,” alleged Alka.

However, police denied she was beaten up and registered only rash and negligence driving case.

“The constable was returning back to Geeta Colony police station on his motorcycle. He allegedly hit the couple while they were crossing the road. Around 9:00 pm the police received a call of a scuffle. We have registered a case against the constable,” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorized to speak to the media.

The victim’s husband alleged that the no medical examination was conducted and they had to go to a nearby hospital on their own to get it done.
