The Delhi High Court has summoned the directors of DDA’s land and horticulture departments for not taking any steps for the construction of a park and a community hall at Jangpura despite a six-month-old court order.

The park and the community hall were to come up at the site, where an illegal mosque had been demolished in January last year, on the orders of the court. The DDA had promptly earmarked 400 square yards of alternative land for the Delhi Waqf Board and Noor Charitable Society for the construction of another mosque.

“Director (land) and director (horticulture) of DDA will remain present in the court on February 26, the next date of hearing,” justice Rajiv Shakdher said, while hearing a contempt petition filed by Jangpura Residents Welfare Association (RWA) president Monu Chadha.

RWA's lawyer R K Saini told the court that he was forced to revive an earlier contempt petition as DDA had taken no steps for construction of the community centre and park, despite the layout plan specifically providing for it.
