Contract killer shot dead by victim

In a daring and quick response, an injured businessman shot dead the contract killer who had come to murder him in Modi Nagar town, police said on Thursday.


The incident occurred  Thursday night in Manavta Vihar colony of Modi Nagar, 40 km from Delhi.

According to police, the contract killer, who was identified as Babloo Tyagi, fired about seven shots from an automatic pistol at Dhanesh Tyagi and his brother Paresh, also a local businessmen, at their home.

Both were injured but Dhanesh managed to take out a pistol and fire back at his assailant, killing him on the spot. Three accomplices of the contract killer, however, succeeded to flee.

A Delhi court has sentenced an HIV-positive man and his wife to seven years in jail for robbery and house trespassing. The court said there were no grounds for leniency on account of health since such crimes were on the rise and needed to be curbed.
