The Gurgaon police have seized the official laptop and the hard disk of his office computer, given to Shivraj Puri by Citibank where he worked as relationship manager. Puri has allegedly embezzled money, worth crores, from the bank's customers.

"Citibank had given a laptop to Puri which contains vital details like the trail of money and details of individuals with whom Puri was dealing. Also Puri was using a desktop at the office and Citibank's investigation team has seized its hard disk," the official said.

The police have also inducted a cyber crime team to crack the transactions details. However, the police are yet to confiscate Puri's personal laptop, supposedly at his residence.

However, the police have failed to crack the email details on the official laptop, as Citibank had disabled the email and internet facility on it, after the bank unearthed the scam, and suspended Puri's services recently.

The officer said the police have asked Citibank authorities to enable the internet and email services on the officials laptop, so that more information can be gathered from it.

Puri, a graduate from Leeds University, is said to be cooperating with the police in the investigation.

"He is answering most of the question without any problem. We are verifying his claims but overall he doesn't look worried at all," said an officer who is part of the interrogation team.

Hero Honda Motors not hit

The Hero Group said on Friday that about Rs. 29 crore of the company's money invested in the Citibank fraud case, but denied involvement of Hero Honda Motors in any of them.

"These investments were made as part of routine treasury operation in what seemed like perfectly legal investment options," the company said in the statement. It is now in talks with relevant authorities to recover the dues.
