According to police, one of the arrested snatchers is involved in almost a hundred cases of snatching, burglary, drug peddling, illegal firearms dealing and assault on police personnel.

Two gold chains and a Pulsar motorcycle were seized from the arrested, identified as Vikram alias Vicky and Santosh.

Police said Vikram was a history-sheeter of the Burari police station and had over 96 cases registered against him. With their arrest, police claimed to have solved 16 cases of snatching reported in the recent past.

Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police (crime and railways), said the arrests were made by the anti-snatching team of the crime branch following information that the accused would be coming to Delhi for a snatching operation.

"We got the information and a team was formed to nab the snatchers. On Wednesday, the team laid a trap on main Bawan road and stopped two men who were riding a black Pulsar motorcycle. Two gold chains were recovered from them," said Yadav.

Interrogation revealed that Vikram, after being released from jail three months ago, returned to his dishonest ways with a vengeance. "He has been involved in over 96 cases of snatching, burglary, drug peddling, illegal firearms dealing and assault on police officers. They operate on motorcycles along with their associates, Ramesh and Sunny," added Yadav.

The snatchers had shifted their base to Rajastan and Punjab due to pressure from the  police.
