A sixty-year-old man has been arrested by west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden police for allegedly raping two 10-year-old girls living in his neighbourhood for the past two months.
The accused had been threatening the victims, who study in Class 5 in two different government schools in Subhash Nagar area in Rajouri Garden, police said on Sunday.
Surender, (who goes by his first name), runs a small private business. He was arrested from his house on Saturday, following a complaint lodged against him by the parents of the two girls.
Sources said Surender was raping the victims and subjecting them to unnatural sex for two months.
They said Surender had recently shifted to a new accommodation. However, he was still forcing the victims to visit his new place and exploiting them sexually.
It was only after one of the victims told her mother about the matter that the matter came to light and Surender was arrested.
According to a police officer, the parents of the two victims approached the Rajouri Garden police station to lodge their complaint against him.
In their complaint, the victims’ parents alleged that Surender was threatening their daughters that he will kill them and their family members, if they told related the incidents to anyone.
“The scared children did not tell their parents till two long months. But they did seem upset and traumatised. After one of the girls’ mother repeatedly asked her daughter what the matter mas, she broke down and narrated the entire matter to her,” said the police officer.
The girl, the officer said, also told her mother that she was not the only one, who was raped and subjected to unnatural sex by Surender.
The child’s mother was horrified by the ordeal she had undergone, and immediately narrated the incident to the parents of the other girl.
“They approached the police at Rajouri Garden stations and the victims were sent to a government hospital for their medical examination.
"After their medical examination reports confirmed rape, Surender was arrested and interrogated at length,” the officer said, adding that Surender has confessed to his crime. Surender was produced before a city court, which sent him to judicial custody.
