Businessman Mohammad Akheel was on his motorcycle, travelling towards Surajmal Vihar Authority at around 12.30pm when the incident occurred.

"He was carrying a bag containing Rs. 10 lakh. As soon as he came on the flyover near ISBT Anand Vihar, four unidentified men on two motorcycles signalled him to stop. As soon as Akheel stopped his bike, the assailants asked him to hand over his bag after pointing a gun at him. Akheel was shot in his leg when he resisted the robbery attempt," the official said, adding the assailants fled the crime spot with the bag.

A call to the police control room was made at 12:37pm. A PCR van reached the crime spot and rushed Akheel to a nearby hospital for medical attention. A case of robbery and Arms Act has been registered in connection with the robbery. The police suspect that the robbers were following Akheel as they knew he was carrying cash.
