The condition of the 23-year-old gangrape survivor deteriorated on Monday, according to doctors treating her at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

The girl, who remained critical, was kept on ventilator because she had difficulty in breathing.

"She showed tendencies of internal bleeding at the drainage site inside the abdomen and there are signs of infection developing in the blood," said Dr BD Athani, medical superintendent at the hospital.

She is also running a fever fluctuating between 102 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

"The positive sign, however, is that her vital parameters are within acceptable limits. Her lungs and kidneys are working fine," said Dr MC Misra, chief, AIIMS Trauma Centre, who is assisting the team of Safdarjung doctors.

The girl was also assessed by a team of psychiatrists, who found her mentally calm, with no signs of anxiety or depression.
