That Delhi is unsafe for women working the graveyard shifts was proved again when a drunk man allegedly molested a 25-year-old woman at Dhaula Kuan early on Sunday. The victim works at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The accused Deepak Shenoy, in his mid-20s, has been arrested and booked for outraging a woman’s modesty.

"The woman was waiting at the Satya Niketan bus stand for her office cab to take her to IGI Airport. Shenoy parked his bike beside her and approached her. He started using explicit language and the girl retaliated. The two got into a verbal altercation," said a police officer.

The police said that Shenoy had allegedly tried to force the girl to go with him.

By the time the woman’s cab arrived, the police had been called and Shenoy arrested. At the time of his arrest, Shenoy was heavily drunk and could not even walk properly, police said.

Senior police officers added that they have contacted the company where the woman works at IGI and are questioning them why section-144 norms, detailing security procedure to be followed by companies where women work in graveyard shift, were flouted.
