Keen not to further alienate Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee, the Congress on Monday disowned its leader Digvijaya Singh’s recent remarks against her.
Days after Mamata rejected the Congress’s choice of Pranab Mukherjee as its presidential candidate, Singh described her in TV interviews as “immature” and “erratic”, adding that there was a limit to the party’s patience.
The Congress distanced itself from the remarks, saying, “Digvijaya Singh is not officially authorised to speak on behalf of the party.”
