A domestic help robbed a businessman of R10.5 lakh in cash and jewellery, in Greater Kailash Part-I, on February 20.

According to the police, the help was hired a few days back from a placement agency - Kumar Personal Bureau - in Lajpat Nagar Phase-I.

"Arjun Popli (the businessman) had gone out with his family on Sunday evening at around 6pm. When they came back, they found that the help had allegedly fled with the valuables and cash," said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The police said that the entire house was ransacked. "The bedroom almirah was broken open and diamond jewellery was also taken away," added the officer.

He said that the accused, Arvind Singh, is a resident of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh.

"The help had not been verified with us. We are now questioning the owner of the placement agency," the officer said.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
