Non-resident Indian Anmol Sarna’s death is entangled in a web of explanations and allegations with investigators not being able to ascertain the exact sequence of events that led to his death on Saturday night.

Sarna’s autopsy, conducted by a panel of three doctors at AIIMS, has revealed he died of multiple head injuries caused due to blunt force and excessive bleeding.

Preliminary probe has revealed that Sarna, 21, had turned “restless and violent”, allegedly due to a cocktail of LSD and other drugs at the farewell party thrown for a friend Shivang Gambhir alias Chikki.

The party was held at his friend Pranel’s flat at South Park Apartments in Kalkaji.

Sources said the scrutiny of the footage from one of the CCTV cameras installed inside the apartment complex showed that Sarna himself had smashed his head into an iron gate. It has been learnt that a scuffle had broken out between him and friends Gambhir, Madhav Bhandari, Rhytham and Pranel over an ‘unknown’ issue.

The police were trying to ascertain whether Sarna was attacked or he suffered injuries after falling on ground and smashing his head/body with four parked cars and an iron gate.

Sarna’s family and close friends have accused his friends and Pranel’s father of plotting his death. “They have been constantly changing their statements. Initially, they claimed that Anmol was injured after falling from the stairs; then they said that he had a fight with the guards; then they accused some locals of attacking him,” said Prateek, a close friend.

Ridhyma Grover, another close friend, alleged the entire murder plan was hatched by Bhandari who had been expelled from school on the charges of molestation in Class 9.

The suspects, including Pranel’s father Krishna Das, were questioned by the police. They claimed Sarna had lost his senses and started running and shouting in the lanes in the complex.

Das had informed the police and accompanied Sarna to AIIMS in the PCR van. Sources said the blood samples of Anmol and his four friends were taken for finding out the amount of drugs and alcohol in their bodies. On Sunday, Anmol’s body was handed over to his family after the autopsy and his last rights were performed at Lodhi Road cremation ground.

The police on Sunday recreated the possible sequence of events and questioned the security guards of the apartment complex. Raids were also conducted in Noida to catch the peddler who supplied the drugs.
