The Enforcement Directorate has summoned the wife of journalist Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, an accused in the Israeli embassy car attack, to explain the source around Rs. 19 lakh in her bank account.

She has been summoned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and is likely to appear before ED investigators in Monday.

During its probe into the case, the Delhi Police have found unexplained money of around Rs. 4 lakh in the account of Kazmi in the Shastri Bhawan branch of the State Bank of India. Kazmi's wife has an account in the Punjab National Bank branch in BK Dutt Colony.

She had around Rs. 19 lakh in the account.

The Delhi police asked the ED to step in as it is the nodal agency that probes cases under the PMLA.  The ED is also looking into the possible violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) as the money seems to have come from abroad.

Kazmi, 50, has been accused of facilitating the attack on an Israeli diplomat's car here on February 13.
