In a case which highlights how getting a building plan sanctioned in the municipality is still a daunting task, politicians and bureaucrats locked horns in the North Corporation on Thursday over faulty sanctioning of a property in Jawahar Nagar.

The standing committee consisting of elected councillors have alleged that officials passed the building plan in 2012 without a proper layout plan.

"The correct procedure is to get the layout plan rectified first and then get the building plan sanctioned.

However, here the officials sanctioned the building plans and then brought the layout plan before the standing committee. If we had refused to rectify it, whatever property is built would have been termed illegal," said VP Pandey, deputy chairman of the committee.

The plot under consideration is a subdivided plot, but it is seen as a single plot.
