Several areas in the city reported waterlogging after heavy showers lashed the city on Wednesday.
However, the central control room of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received only 13 complaints of waterlogging and five complaints of falling of trees from various parts of the
city.
With construction activity being carried out in various parts of the city, waterlogging resulted in traffic jams in many areas.
The main points of waterlogging included Vijay Enclave, Hanuman Setu, ISBT to Nigam Bodh Ghat, Minto Road under-bridge, Gupta Market, Lajpat Nagar, Adchini, Paharganj, Rajghat and Chandni Chowk.
"There are a number of low lying areas in the city and they are bound to get flooded once it rains. Also, the water takes some time to make its way in the drains," said a senior MCD official.
Once again the MCD blamed heavy rainfall and construction waste lying around at different under-construction Games' sites for the problem. The MCD has also deployed its staff across all zones to ensure that the openings of drains — gully-gratings, bell-mouths — are kept clean at all times.
The civic body has identified 139 vulnerable points which are prone to waterlogging.
