Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has planned to open five more exclusive CNG stations in the city, to be operational by the end of this year.

Presently, Noida has only one exclusive CNG station in Sector 53 and two CNG filling units at petrol pumps in sectors 62 and 63.

The additional stations are likely to make the lives of commuters easy as the paucity of filling stations often cause traffic jams and clashes.

An IGL spokesperson said, “Besides the Sector 53 CNG station, we have two more CNG stations at petrol pumps in sectors 62 and 63. It seems residents are not aware of that. To maintain road discipline and prevent jams, the company has deputed three guards.”

“If we stop drivers, they threaten us with dire consequences,” said a guard.

The IGL spokesperson said, “One CNG station is ready at Sector 82. We are awaiting clearances from the ministry. Besides, we have made arrangements at four other petrol pumps in the city, expected to be operational in the next few months."

"Further, the authority has allotted five more sites (in sectors 71, 51, 105, 122 and 142) to us. Over 50% work has  been completed at the Sector 71 station. Work at other sites, too, has started. We have planned to make these stations operational by 2011-end," the spokesperson added.
