Four killed, two injured in four separate accidents

Four persons lost their lives and two others were injured in four separate accidents that took place in different parts of the Capital in the last 24 hours. The first accident took place on Sunday night in central Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area in which a 22-year-old labourer was killed while
two others injured after the tempo they were in was hit by a speeding truck. The deceased was identified as Sushil Pandit and the accident occurred at 11.30pm on a road outside the Buddha Garden, the police said.

In the second accident, a 35-year-old man met with a tragic death after a speeding truck loaded with iron rods hit his bike and dragged him for over 100 meters at Naraina flyover on Sunday night. The victim, Rakesh Kumar, was headed towards his home in Uttam Nagar after work when the speeding truck hit his motorbike from behind. “Rakesh was trapped in the rear part of the truck which stopped only after dragging him for over 100 meters. We have arrested the errant truck driver, identified as Munna Rai who hails from Bihar,” the police officer said.

In another such accident, a speeding car mowed down a 27-year-old man when he was crossing a road in east Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase I on Sunday evening. Mahender Paswan, the victim, was crossing the Noida Link road and had reached the middle of the road when the speeding car hit him. The car dragged Paswan to several meters and he died on the spot. The police have arrested the errant car driver identified as Rohit Srivastava.

In east Delhi’s Anand Vihar area, Arjun Singh, 25, hailing from Gadhwal in Uttarakhand, was hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road.
