The Delhi government on Tuesday directed the three municipal corporations of Delhi to overhaul the drainage network and maintain cleanliness in the city.

The directive came after Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit expressed unhappiness over the upkeep of drainage system in the Capital as overnight heavy showers led to water-logging and subsequent traffic jams.

As rain lashed Delhi, it led to water-logging which resulted in massive traffic jams across the capital. The traffic mess was compounded by malfunctioning of traffic lights in various areas. Water-logging was reported from the carriageway from Naraina to Dhaula Kuan on Ring road, Najafgarh and Mehrauli-Badarpur road.
