An aspiring business management student will be able to reappear for the Jamia Millia Islamia BBS entrance examination 2009-10 after the Delhi High Court came to her rescue.
The court directed the university to conduct re-examination of the Bachelors in Business Studies (BBS) on August 4 for the student after the same roll number of the June 16 test was found alloted to two candidates.
It asked Mahira Khan, whose roll number was also alloted to another candidate, to complete formalities by July 31 for the re-examination.
The university's Registrar, Z H Khan, admitted through an affidavit before Justice Anil Kumar that due to clerical error another candidate was issued the roll number-BBS 2082 and agreed to conduct re-examination, the court informed.
"Sometimes such clerical error do creep up in the system but in such exigencies every care is taken that precious time of the applicants is not lost," the university said.
Filing a petition, Mahira Khan submitted before the court that on June 16 when she had gone to appear the entrance examination and saw that another person had occupied her seat claiming to have the same roll number which was alloted to her, after which she complained to the competent authority.
After her complaint, a seat was alloted to her 45 minutes after the scheduled starting time of the examination and as a result of which she was not able to do well in the examination leading to her non-selection, Khan added.
