While his close friend Ponty Chadha was dying in the hospital emergency, Sukhdev Singh Namdhari was busy tutoring his guard what to tell the police about the shootout in which Ponty had suffered bullet wounds.
It was Namdhari who rushed Ponty to Fortis hospital after the Chhatarpur shootout on November 17. When doctors were attending on injured Ponty, Namdhari told his PSO Sachin Tyagi how they would explain the sequence of events to the police.
“Namdhari tutored Tyagi and the first statement given by them was prepared in advance. Both Namdhari and Tyagi did not inform the police that Namdhari also had fired during the shootout. The police, after reaching the hospital, took their statement but by that time they had planned everything,” said a senior police officer.
Ponty’s driver has also told the police that Namdhari was discussing with Tyagi in the car what statement they would give to police.
“The driver’s statement was taken and later Tyagi confirmed that he concealed facts under pressure from his boss,” he added.
In his statement, Namdhari had told police that he had gone to Ponty Chadha’s residence at 9.30 am (Farmhouse number 21, Cenral drive Chattarpur-Mehrauli) on November 17. After spending some time there, he left with Ponty Chadha in his land cruiser to farmhouse number 42 at 12 pm.
However, at this point neither Tyagi nor Namdhari had told police that Namdhari had planned the trespassing and was also involved in the shootout.
Namdhari had been very close to Ponty Chadha. It has been alleged that he got the top job Uttarkhand minorities commission at the behest of Ponty only.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have arrested another person in the trespassing case. Police said Satnam, PSO of Monty Chadha, Ponty’s son, was also part of the group that had illegally entered farmhouse number 42.
“Satnam was with Monty for the past six years and during the interrogation of others his name cropped up. He was taken in custody and since he was close to the Chadha family, his statement is also crucial,” he added.
