Holiday on Chhat Puja

The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has declared Chhat Puja, which falls on November 20, a holiday.

The civic body announced that it will hold a six-day fair to celebrate the festival. The corporation has sent a request for approval to Delhi lieutenant governor Tejendra Khanna.

“Around 60% of East Delhi consists of Poorvanchalis, for whom Chhat is the biggest festival,” said Mahek Singh, chairman standing committee.
