The Indian Police Service (Central) Association has demanded that suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal should be immediately reinstated.

The association has sent a strongly worded letter to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, saying action against the ‘bold’ and ‘dynamic’ woman IAS officer was taken apparently ‘to teach the SDM a lesson’ in view of her crackdown on the sand mafia.

Association secretary and IG, CRPF, Pankaj Kumar Singh said: “The reports these days clearly show that this extreme action was taken to teach the SDM a lesson.”

“The suspension and handing over of chargesheet to Ms Durga Shakti Nagpal in an autocratic and arbitrary manner is a case of strong concern among all the officers of the police and administration across the country.”
