India, Pakistan foreign secys to chart path for ministers’ talk

The foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan will go into a huddle here on Tuesday for preparing the ground for two foreign ministers to review the dialogue process and chart out the ways to keep the talks going on in a “comprehensive and sustained” manner.

External affairs minister SM Krishna and his counterpart — Hina Rabbani Khar — the first woman and youngest foreign minister of Pakistan - will have talks on Wednesday. Each side will have a 15-member delegation.

On Tuesday, foreign secretary Nirupama Rao and her Pakistan counterpart Salman Bashir will give the final touches for the agenda for the foreign ministers' meet.

According to sources, the roadmap for a "comprehensive and sustained" dialogue process in consistent with the "step by step" approach for normalisation of ties will be chalked at the foreign minister's meet.

Both the sides are looking at an upgrade in dialogue process to minister-level in some areas such as home, commerce and sports.
