As anger sweeps through West Asia over a film mocking Islam, India is likely to ban the amateur movie that portrays the Prophet Mohammad in a negative light.

The home ministry has forwarded the Jammu and Kashmir government's request for an online ban to the computer emergency response team (CERT-IN) that orders blocking of websites and webpages.

The state government’s request to block all the pages where the film was available online was being looked into by CERT-IN, a ministry official said.

The protests against Innocence of Muslims, however, are growing.

Demonstrators attacked the US embassies in Yemen and Egypt even as American warships headed to Libya two days after the country’s ambassador was killed there in related violence.

Secretary of state Hillary Clinton condemned the film, stressing that the US government had nothing to do with it but it did little to calm the anger.
