The 12-member team met some of their Indian counterparts, national security adviser Shiv Shankar Menon among others.

Moudud Ahmed of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said the LBA and Teesta water-sharing pact should be completed at the earliest and said there is a political consensus in Bangladesh for having good ties with India.

A protocol to the LBA was signed during prime minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Bangladesh last year.

But since the LBA entails changing of boundary of the country, it requires a constitutional amendment.

The government has begun consultations with opposition countries to get the numbers to get the constitutional amendment bill passed in parliament.

The signing of Teesta water pact was put on hold after West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee raising last-minute objection to it. Ahmed said India should be more considerate on water issues. There are 54 rivers that flow into Bangladesh from India.

"We are the lower riparian state. The flow of the river is interrupted in 33 of these 54 rivers. Please do let us know what are do you, an upper riparian state is doing", said Ahmed, a former prime minister of Bangladesh in the regime of General Ershad.

He also served as the law minister of Bangladesh from 2001 to 2006.
