Jalandhar flyer held with gold hidden in rectum

A Jalandhar man was arrested at the international airport in New Delhi on Friday on a charge of trying to smuggle in gold worth about Rs. 27 lakh by hiding the bars in his rectum.

Based on secret input, customs officials caught the man, 30, when he arrived from Bangkok. "Nothing objectionable was found in his baggage but, later on his personal search, we found that he had hidden six cut pieces of gold bar weighing about 1 kg in the rectum," said a customs official.

Hailing from, the man is under investigation. On Saturday, customs arrested another man at the airport in his attempt to smuggle in gold biscuits worth about Rs. 18 lakh.
