KIIT World School, Pitampura, hosts CBSE Science Exhibition

KIIT World School, Pitampura, recently hosted the CBSE Science Exhibition which was inaugurated by Prof AK Bakhshi, vice-chancellor, Allahabad Open University and Prof GS Sodhi, associate professor, SGTB Khalsa College, Delhi University.

A delegation of 12 members from Aitchison College, Lahore, visited and appreciated the exhibition which saw participation of students from 88 schools of Delhi. Around 300 students showcased their creativity and knowledge of science through ‘Kaleidoscope’, commemorating the spirit of the ‘International Year of Chemistry’ and various other competitions.

Agencies such as Vigyan Prasar, NCERT, CBT and NBT displayed science related material, while eminent scientists, educationists and principals also visited the exhibition.

Vineet Joshi, chairman, CBSE and MC Sharma, controller of examinations, CBSE visited the venue for the valedictory function. Of the total exhibits, best 15 were selected for national level participation. School principal Sangeeta Bhatia congratulated the prize winners and proposed the vote of thanks.

DR Saini, principal of Delhi Public School, RK Puram, was recently felicitated with the prestigious 23rd Bharat Nirman Awards for his selfless work in the field of education. In his 33 years of service in the field of education, sports and culture, Saini has received 15 prestigious awards. He is a member of 27 advisory boards of various institutions and organisations and has presented papers in the United Nations on human rights, education and health.

Bharat Nirman is the only NGO working in honouring enlightened people of India since the last 22 years in fields like social service, education, administration, spirituality, etc. The judges for the awards were Dr KK Aggarwal, Dr Shikha Sharma, Pt. Ajai Bhambi, Sri Ashok Chakradhar and Geeta Chandran.

Vivek Summit, east Patel Nagar, recently celebrated ‘100 years of Delhi - as the National Capital’. Dr V K Bhatnagar, the guest of honour on the occasion, inspired the audience with his words of wisdom and appreciated the students. He stressed to impart moral education and other core subject in the syllabus through the help of theatre and drama, making them more interesting for the students. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of students and parents and provided an insight into the rich legacy of Delhi.

Jaspal Kaur Public School, Shalimar Bagh, held its annual investiture ceremony where the new student council members were sworn in and pledged to uphold the standards of their institution. Chief guest Dr Satbir Bedi hoisted the national flag and principal George Mathew administered the oath to the new members.

Dr Bedi, school chairman Surjit Singh, vice-chairperson Rasna and members of the managing committee presented epaulettes and certificates to the prefects.

The chief guest also released the new volume of the school magazine Excelsior. The headmistress Geeta Bahl proposed the vote of thanks.
