A Delhi court Thursday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of absconding former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who is on the run and faces abetment of suicide charge in the death of an employee.
Geetika Sharma, a 23-year-old former airhostess with Kanda's now-defunct MDLR Airline, was found dead in her Ashok Vihar home on August 4. In the suicide note, she blamed Kanda and his employee, Aruna Chadha.
The allegations against Kanda were serious; there were charges that Geetika was getting calls and SMSes from other phones, which needed to be investigated, sessions judge Rajnish Bhatnagar said.
The suicide note showed Geetika had "an element of jealousy and mixed emotions of love and hatred towards" his client, counsel KTS Tusli said. "She may be jilted."
The former state minister of home Haryana filed for bail on Wednesday after the police declared him an absconder. A Delhi Police team has been sent to Siliguri, West Bengal, as Kanda's in-laws live there.
