Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal on Friday promised to appoint a Jan Lokayukt as per Anna Hazare’s Lokpal bill and said those responsible for the power, water and transport scams in Delhi would be jailed if his party cames to power after the forthcoming assembly election.

Referring to BJP’s demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in the transport scam, where a senior transport department official has filmed irregularities in awarding a high value work to a private company without tender, Kejriwal said: “BJP demands CBI inquiry for Congress scams and Congress for BJP’s. Both parties are hand in glove.”

Buoyed by television surveys indicating a clear lead for his party in the November elections, he said: “When we assume power, within 15 days, we will bring in Lokayukt as per Anna Hazare’s Jan Lokpal. In three months, Delhi government’s three major scams in power, water and transport sector would be handed over to Lokayukt and whosoever is guilty would be put in jail in six months to one year’s time.”

When HT asked what if his party loses, Kejriwal said: “This is the last hope that people have. It is for the people to decide, else they will suffer unlimited corruption.”
