A 29-year-old lady doctor allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Varnika Pandey, a senior resident doctor in the department of dental surgery, hanged herself from the ceiling fan in hostel room number 214, where she lived with her husband, according to police.
Her husband Paras Khanna is also a senior resident doctor at the Surgical Oncology department of AIIMS.
Paras saw her hanging from the fan this afternoon when he reached their room to have lunch.
Paras rushed her to the emergency of the Trauma centre at 2.58pm, where doctors declared her dead.
According to hospital sources, Varnika was selected for AIIMS, Jodhpur recently.
The couple had a love marriage in November 2012.
A case in this regard has been registered and the matter is being probed, police said.
