The North Delhi Municipal corporation has passed a lot of proposals over the past 14 months, but there has been hardly any progress on these proposals on the ground.

Taking up 23 such proposals in its standing committee meeting on Wednesday, leader of the House Mahinder Nagpal presented a short notice over the work done in these projects. But the notice had to be deferred till the next meeting to give officials adequate time to prepare themselves for the enquiries.

"In the past year, we have passed numerous proposals. But the commissioner and other officials have to take action to make these projects and proposals a reality. We can’t keep passing proposal after proposal which don’t materialise into anything. The officials should show us the progress reports of all these corporation-approved agendas," Nagpal said.

The proposals and projects include conversion of corporation-owned markets into malls and underground parking lots, a gym in every ward, more monetary aid for students in municipal schools, regularisation of all small illegal constructions, installation of CCTV cameras in schools, hospitals and community centres, among others.

"We need to know the progress on these as we are accountable to the people," Nagpal said.

When contacted, commissioner PK Gupta said, "The notice came to me today, just before the meeting. I will look into it. It is a lengthy, detailed list of proposals.
